The Wapping Project Bankside is a lens-based gallery founded in 2009 by Jules Wright, the director of the renowned Wapping Project. The gallery represents a small, international group of established photographers and filmmakers each with their own distinct sense of urgency and enquiry that guides their artistic practice. Since it’s inception, the gallery has built a reputation for its presentation of challenging fashion photography exhibitions and also represents the Estates of the highly acclaimed Lillian Bassman and the formidable Deborah Turbeville. All the gallery artists work on film, shooting medium and large format and print in small editions.
Represented artists have exhibited in major exhibitions and biennales such as the Venice Biennale and Rencontres d’Arles and their work is included in such notable collections such as Tate Modern, V&A, MOMA, LACMA and various national galleries. The gallery regularly attends international photography fairs such as Photo London, Photo Shanghai and Unseen Amsterdam.
